Privacy policy

The short version

Who runs Worlddoku

Worlddoku is run by a solo owner, who can be reached at hello@worlddoku.com for any question about privacy or about your data.

What is saved on your device

Worlddoku uses your browser's local storage to remember things between visits. This information stays on your device. The game does not upload it, and we cannot see it. The code checked for this policy does not read it for any other purpose.

When you download your passport, the image is drawn in your browser and saved to your device. It is not uploaded to Worlddoku. If you post or send the image somewhere, that is your choice and is covered by the privacy policy of that service.

Clearing it. The "Reset progress" link next to the globe erases your progress and any unseen results popup. To remove everything, including the theme, welcome note and passport photo choices, clear this site's data in your browser settings. Because nothing is stored on a Worlddoku server, cleared progress cannot be recovered. Browsers may also clear local storage on their own, for example in private browsing.

Hosting and infrastructure

Worlddoku is a static website delivered through Cloudflare. When you load a page, your browser sends a request to Cloudflare that includes your IP address and standard technical details such as the page requested and your browser type. Cloudflare processes this to deliver and protect the site and may keep logs under its own policy, which we do not control. See the Cloudflare privacy policy. The site's own code does not read or store this information.

Email sent to hello@worlddoku.com passes through Cloudflare's email routing and the email services used by the site owner. See the section on contacting us below.

Third-party services

Advertising and Google AdSense

Currently: Worlddoku does not show advertising, and no advertising code is installed.

In the future: the site owner may apply to use Google AdSense. If advertising is switched on, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, mobile or browser identifiers and your IP address to show and measure ads, to limit how often you see an ad, to prevent fraud and, where you allow it, to personalise ads. This page will be updated before ads go live.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google requires a consent management platform to ask for your choices before personalised ads are served. If advertising is enabled, you will be able to review or withdraw your choices through that tool. You can also manage ad personalisation yourself and learn how Google handles data from sites that use its services:

Cookies and similar technologies

Worlddoku's own pages do not set cookies. The checks run for this policy found no cookies set by the site, and the site stores its settings in local storage as described above. Cloudflare, which delivers the site, is outside our control, and we have not verified every technical detail of how it operates. If advertising or analytics is added, cookies or similar identifiers may be used, and this page will be updated before that happens.

Your rights

Visitors in Portugal and elsewhere in the European Economic Area, and in the United Kingdom, have rights under the GDPR or the UK GDPR where these laws apply. They include the right to access your personal data, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format and to withdraw consent you have given. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Portugal this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

Worlddoku does not keep your game data on a server, so most of these rights are in your own hands through your browser settings. The main personal data we hold is the content of emails you send us. To make a request about that, write to hello@worlddoku.com.

Children

Worlddoku is a puzzle game for a general audience, and children may play it. It does not ask for your age and does not require an account or any personal details. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has sent us personal data, write to hello@worlddoku.com and we will delete it. If advertising is introduced, this section will be reviewed before ads go live.

Data retention and security

Data saved in your browser stays there until you clear it. Emails you send us stay in the site owner's mailbox until they are deleted, and no fixed retention period has been set. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time. The site is served over HTTPS. No security certification is claimed, and no system connected to the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes to this policy

If the site's practices change, for example if analytics or advertising is added, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Worlddoku has no accounts or mailing list, so there is no way to notify visitors individually. Please check this page from time to time.
